Thinking of Travel? The Right Time to Plan for it is Now

Thinking of your next trip? Now more than ever you’ll need to make sure that you’re financially protected should you get sick or injured while away.

Whether you’re headed out of province or to warmer climates this winter, here are three questions to ask yourself when planning your next big trip.

1. How will I pay for it if I get sick abroad?

If it wasn’t top-of-mind before, this is the question that every would-be traveller should be thinking about first.

Fortunately, travel insurance providers have you covered. For example, CAA Insurance’s Emergency Medical Insurance offers coverage for emergency hospital transportation, accommodations and associated fees, emergency dental treatments, and more.

But not all insurance providers offer equal coverage, especially in the post-pandemic era.

To help you book with confidence, CAA Travel Insurance offer COVID protection enhancements that have been made with new interruption coverage, and emergency medical coverage expansions for those who are travelling during a Level 3 travel advisory.

CAA Travel Insurance emergency medical plans now include up to $2.5 million* in coverage if partially vaccinated with a Health Canada approved vaccine, or up to $5 million* if fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved vaccine, for COVID-19 related illnesses that may occur when travelling at a time when the Government of Canada has issued a related Level 3 travel advisory.

2. What kind of plan do I need?

That depends on who else is going with you. If you’re going solo, consider a plan like CAA Travel Insurance’s Individual Plan. It’s the perfect plan for those once-in-awhile trips. They provide you with customizable coverage to suit your needs, plus optional deductibles to further reduce your premiums.

Going with your family? Make sure everyone is insured with a group plan like CAA Travel Insurance’s Family Plan. You’ll enjoy knowing that your loved ones are protected in case of a medical emergency.

The Family Plan’s options are customizable to fit the needs of your family, including the option to add a deductible, which can help you further save on your insurance premiums.

Even better? CAA Members always SAVE up to 20%** on insurance coverage!

3. What if I am planning on more than one trip?

Now that hope is on the horizon for would-be travellers, you may even be planning on more than one trip. Some travel insurance providers offer extended coverage for these travel-lovers among us.

CAA Travel Insurance offers both Single and Multi-Trip Plans. Know the difference – we break it down here for you:
