Roadtrip with family

When Should I Choose a Family Travel Insurance Plan?

Picture this... You're booking your vacation and searching for the perfect travel insurance plan. You may be flipping through the travel insurance options and thinking “what's the best choice for my family” or "how many types of travel plans are there." Adding family to the mix can make things complicated. Now you have partners, spouses, and kids to think about. Travel Insurance is essential even if you're travelling in Canada, but when is the right time to choose a family plan?

CAA Travel Insurance* offers multiple insurance options. Single trip options are available, or if you plan on travelling across the border several times a year, you can be covered for an entire year with an annual multi-trip insurance plan. Are you travelling with family? You still have options. Either you can purchase individual travel insurance plans or bundle everyone's coverage under one (which can save you some $$$). Occasionally, purchasing family travel insurance coverage can end up costing you more than buying individual plans for each person travelling. Do you have more questions about travel insurance? CAA is here to answer some of the questions you might have on family travel insurance plans.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How does family travel insurance work?

Instead of purchasing individual travel insurance plans for each traveller, you bundle your family together under a single travel insurance policy.

2. What is the average cost of travel insurance?

Travel insurance plan costs differ depending on what type of policy you purchase, where you’re travelling to, how long you’ll be travelling, what kinds of activities you will be doing while traveling, and medical history or conditions all play a part in determining the cost of a travel insurance policy.

3. Is family health insurance cheaper than individual?

This depends on the person or people on the policy. For most families going on a standard family vacation, with no family members having any medical conditions, travel insurance plans can often be quite affordable and the best bet.

4. Which is the best insurance plan for your family?

CAA offers multiple coverage options so it’s best to speak with a CAA Travel Consultant to determine which type of policy and coverage best fits your travel insurance needs.
